Pediatric Mental Health

Mental health plays a huge role in a child's life. As pediatric providers, we take care of the whole child which includes both regularly screening for mental health concerns and addressing issues that the patient or family has noticed.

If your child is struggling, we are here to help. We can help provide community resources, therapy options and medication management when indicated.

Dr. Jenn, Kim and Kaitlin all have experience with evaluating and managing:

  • Inattention and lack of focus
  • Hyperactivity/impulsivity
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

If you have concerns about your child's behavioral or emotional health, please call our office to schedule an appointment. We will discuss your concerns and gather information that will be used to determine how we can best help your child.

What to Expect at a Mental Health Evaluation

At your appointment, we may ask that you and/or your child complete a questionnaire about his/her symptoms. We also will ask questions and, depending on the concern, may spend some one-on-one time with either the parent or child to get more information. Depending on the concern, we may ask for additional information from teachers or other providers.

Ongoing Medication Management

After your child's initial evaluation, if medication is started, your child must be seen within 1 month in order to continue the medication. If your child is doing well with his/her medication, subsequent appointments will be scheduled every 3 months. If a medication or dosage change is needed, your child must be seen within 1 month to assess your child's progress and to determine if the medication can be refilled.

Referrals

If your child needs further testing or a higher level of care, we will help in the referral process. Additionally, we are lucky enough to have Dr. Sara Streufert (psychologist) as part of our team who can assist with psychological testing and assessments when needed.
